Back to Business

Wow! Labour Day weekend is here. Hard to imagine. Summer has FLOWN by -- again. Can't be because I keep getting older can it???

My summer was filled with...

A lot of this,

A little of this,
A LOT of this,

A whole bunch of this,

A lot of this too (I revamped my whole Math program)

And best of all, lots and lots of this,
So what was your favourite part of summer? Are you ready for fall?

Your summer was filled with Pooh?????

Jemi Fraser said...

Alex - Yikes! Sure looks that way, doesn't it? :)

Ah, a summer filled with laughter. You can't beat that. I don't think we're getting older, the seasons are just getting shorter. :) Have a great holiday weekend.

Aw, I love Snoopy!

Looks like you had a fantastic summer, Jemi :)

My favorite part about summer was not having a strict schedule. I'm sorry to see summer coming to an end because that means back to the craziness.

Jemi Fraser said...

Mason - I think I'll go with shorter seasons too! :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Suzie - Snoopy's one of my favourites too!

I agree - back to the craziness is right. I THINK I'm ready - but I never really am!

You got lots of writing done in the summer? #youareachampion!

klahanie said...

Oh my, over here in lil' ol England, we're still waiting for the summer...
Okay, soon as it turned September, we actually have experienced two straight days without rain.
Ready for the fall? I thought the autumn started in June...yikes eh :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Susan - I do feel pretty good about how much I got done! Yay :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Gary - yeah, from what I know England doesn't have the best summers... I love our falls here - cool, crisp weather. It's gorgeous!

LD Masterson said...

Mixed feelings - there was a lot more summer stuff I meant to do but I always look forward to fall.

I definitely won't miss the 101 temperature we had today.

(I love that picture of Calvin and Hobbs. I miss them.)

Jemi Fraser said...

Linda - I never get my wishlist for summer done. Ever. But the distractions are part of the fun ... usually.

Our temp was super high today too - hope that's the last of it!!

Calvin and Hobbes are the best!

julie fedderson said...

Oh, Calvin and Hobbes! Too bad we don't have time machines made of cardboard boxes so we can go back to the beginning of the summer.

woo! looks like a great summer! (love that Alex comment) I'm so happy you had time to write too. good for you. from all the slashing and burning you speak of, sounds like things are going well on that end too!
I'm usually happy with any change of season. Change is good and by the time the end rolls near, I'm looking forward to the next.
Fall = going back to routine (meaning the gym! hello ice cream budda belly)
fall = cracking down on writing
fall = kayaking big waves!
fall = writing conferences
fall = hiking without bugs!

Jemi Fraser said...

Julie - those cardboard time traveling machines are the best! It would be great :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Agnes - me too. Fall is by far my favourite season - even if it means going back to work :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Javid - thank you! Summer is great - but there is something special about fall too :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Yvonne - thank you! We start school Tuesday so that always signals fall for me :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Terry - Alex always cracks me up :)

Fall really is special - the no bugs thing is very, very big! And being back to routine isn't all bad either :)

I'm still in denial and cling on to the hopes of an Indian summer in September!! :-)

Yay that you had a great summer!! Happy Labour weekend!

I love the visuals you picked out. It looks like you had a wonderful summer.

The best part of my summer was going to the SCBWI conference. I hope to go again in the future.

Have a great weekend.

Jemi Fraser said...

Old Kitty - thanks! I like the cool crisp air of fall - especially when I'm in a classroom with 30+ sweaty bodies... :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Medeia - thanks! It was great :)

I'd love to attend SCBWI - or another wonderful conference - one day. It sounds like there's so much awesome that happens there!

Golden Eagle said...

It looks like you had a fun summer!

I'm ready for fall! Looking forward to cooler weather and the holiday season. :)

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

I should have done more writing but I visited a lot of colleges with my daughter to help her make a decision. I also got back into my exercise regime and read lots of books.

Jemi Fraser said...

Golden Eagle - I love fall - even though it's back to work for me, it's my favourite season. Love the air and the crunch on the ground :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Susan - sounds like you had a fabulous summer! Picking colleges is tough - it's so nice to be able to visit some to get a 'feel' for the place! And good for you for getting an exercise regime settled - that is TOUGH!

Rosalind Adam said...

Love that last one. Lucky you. It sounds like you had a great summer. When the kids leave home summers don't have the same feel to them. It's just more of the same but with lighter nights.

Jemi Fraser said...

Rosalind - me too! I'm not looking forward to my kids leaving home - we do have a lot of fun around here! :)

Kelly Polark said...

I'm sad that summer is over. We took some fun trips.
But I do like the routine of when school starts.
Love the fun pics!

Jemi Fraser said...

Kelly - thanks :)

Summer (for me anyway) is all about family and it's nice to hear you had some good trips with yours!

Anonymous said...

I'm looking forward to fall, but I am at the same time sad that summer's over. But your summer seems to fill with so much fun. :)

Talli Roland said...

LOL on Alex's comment! :)

Sounds like a great summer, Jemi. Mine's gone by in a blur of revisions, if I'm honest - it wasn't the easiest summer ever. I think autumn will be much more fun.

Jemi Fraser said...

Emy - in some ways I'm sad - I do have to head back to work! - but I love fall. And I actually love going back to school too :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Talli - I know - Alex always cracks me up :)

I hope your fall is better and brighter!

I'm definitely ready for Fall and cooler weather. Have a wonderful day!

Looks like a lovely summer. (Except for the math.)

Welcome back!

My favorite part of summer? The beach.

DL Hammons said...

You left off the picture where we're melting underneath a blazing sun! I am SOOO ready for fall!! :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Susanne - I'm ready for the cool air too. WAY too much humidity this summer :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Theresa - the beach is always fun - especially when you have kids :)

And strangely, I even enjoyed the math! :)

Jemi Fraser said...

DL - you're right - I should definitely have included one of those - way too much heat for me this summer!

Janet Johnson said...

That last picture? Definitely what filled my summer. :)

Enjoy your weekend!

Jemi Fraser said...

Janet - that's awesome! It's the best thing to fill up our days, isn't it? :)

hehehe cute pics!
My winter has been very hermitish and filled with writing - I'm ready for spring and BBQs with friends and swimming in the pool.

Jemi Fraser said...

Michelle - thanks :)

A hermittish winter sounds kinda nice! Good for you for getting lots done. Hope your summer is as good as mine has been! :)

colbymarshall said...

Love the summer in pics! Wish I'd thought of that! My favorite part of my summer had to be a week at the beach. It was so nice to get away. Fall...hm. I'm looking forward to coming down from the hundred degree heat, but I'm no looking forward to the moment when it starts to get dark sooner again.

Stopping over from the BBQ, by the way! Glad I found you!

Jemi Fraser said...

Colby - thank you :) Karen's bbq is awesome!

I'm looking forward to fall temperatures too - and today we have them. I like it light longer in the evening too - but I guess we can't have it all!

Anonymous said...

Fun post, Jemi! Summer went by way too fast (but I'm going to blame the busyness of it 'cause it certainly cannot be the age thing:)).

Jemi Fraser said...

Lynn - oh, I like that! Yes! Let's definitely blame the busy factor - much better :)

Leslie S. Rose said...

My favorite part of summer was writing in the forest. We just revamped our math program too. I'm fighting with the new order. How can you teach geometry formulas before you've taught equations? Yikes! As for fall - can't wait for crisp cool weather.

Jemi Fraser said...

Leslie - writing in the forest sounds awesome!! :)

I hate when they try to enforce the order - it usually doesn't make any sense. I'm trying an even more global approach this year - a lot of inquiry & big ideas stuff. Should be fun!

laughingwolf said...

way to be, jemi... esp the last bit ;)lol

Jemi Fraser said...

Laughing Wolf - thank you - that's my favourite part too :)

I love Snoopy and Calvin and Hobbes. This gave me a smile today. I love the smells and colors of fall. The cool nights and the warmish days. I'm a little sad to see summer come to an end though.

Jemi Fraser said...

Kari - me too! I've always been a comic strip fan - they're awesome! :)

I'm kind of in the same boat. I love the fall weather, but I do enjoy being off for the summer! :)

Anonymous said...

Our summers look very similar. I'd have to add a bit of Nemo in there as well. Swimming is big at our house.

Enjoy your new class!

Jemi Fraser said...

Cat - Nemo is always a good addition - and maybe Dorrie too! :)

Thanks - first day was today and I had a great time! Terrific group of kids! :)

Angela Ackerman said...

Sounds like you had a great summer!

I am looking forward to fall, and getting back to a schedule. :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Angela - I did! I love fall too - the air, the temps - it's all great! :)

My favorite part of the summer was spending time doing things with my amazing boyfriend :)

Jemi Fraser said...

C'est la Vie - now that's sound right about perfect! :)

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I'm ready for fall. Ready to fall down and take a nice long nap! Been a very busy summer.

I am looking forward to Fall, my favorite season! It should be cooling off tomorrow and I'm ready to leave this crazy heat behind.

Looks like you're back in business. Good! Such a hassle, eh?
We are having a burst of hot weather here in L.A. after a pretty great summer. Love fall.

LOL! Super post! Very clever...

I had a wonderful summer too, filled with a lot of the same things your was filled with. :D

Jemi Fraser said...

Stephen - I'm looking forward to the fall weather too. Tomorrow is supposed to be high heat & humidity again though ... and we had a frost warning 2 days ago. Bizarre stuff :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Lee - it has been a HUGE hassle. I don't even know if it's officially fixed yet - I haven't got an email back from them, but if you're all here, I'm assuming it's okay... :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Shannon - thank you! I know you're another fan of our comic friends :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Sharon - I'm so glad! Summer should be as much about family and friends as it can! :)
