This is a new area for me as I used to be an over-writer but once I trimmed this draft, I was 15k short of my goal! The story is stronger, but not where it needs to be. Not yet.
Hope you'll pop on over and join the discussion - I need all the help I can get!
Did you start outlining? That's what happened to me when I outlined...I started writing super-short.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!
Looking forward to checking it out, Jemi!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to check it out...
ReplyDeleteI seem to be an underwriter. :)
ReplyDeleteOn my way...
ReplyDeleteI'm one of those lean writers...need to pop over and check out your post later!
ReplyDeleteI'll pop in and say hello!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!! It's been an experience :)
ReplyDeleteHeading over.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely an over writer. Best wishes with fleshing out your manuscript.
ReplyDeleteAs a definite under-writer, I need to check this out. Heading over there now... :)
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!! :)
ReplyDeleteThis does sound like an interesting topic. I'll be popping over! :)
ReplyDelete~Jess
I'll check it out.
ReplyDeleteI read the post, it was great!
ReplyDeleteI'm headed over to check it out. There is such a fine balance, and I'm kind of a minimalist, so I'm always looking for ways to trim, but I do find my novels double in length on the second draft.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! That balance is indeed tough :)
ReplyDeleteI went. I read. I commented. *grin*
ReplyDeleteLinda - you rock! :)
ReplyDeleteI was such an over-writer! Hard habit to break. I have gotten much more ruthless. Killed many darlings.
ReplyDeleteI shall mosey over also!
ReplyDeleteLeslie - me too! I still prefer to trim than add!
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy :)
