Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
And we’re revving up IWSG Day to make it more fun and interactive! Every month, we'll announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG Day post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.

September 4 question - If you could pick one place in the world to sit and write your next story, where would it be and why?
There are so many great places where I'd love to write...
- outdoors under the Northern Lights
- a sidewalk cafe in Paris
- a balcony overlooking Tokyo or NYC at night
- a comfy chair dropped into the middle of the Serengeti or the green rolling hills of Scotland
- a gondola in Venice or a whale-watching boat in the ocean
- a beach Down Under
How about you? Where would you like best to write or read? Anyone want to join me?
Now that would be cool.
ReplyDeletePick Scotland over the Serengeti. You're less likely to be eaten by Nessie than by a lion.
LOL - very true - Nessie has always seemed like a sweetie! :)
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteIf that pic is where you would like to write, then I say go for it. That area looks absolutely beautiful.
Please don't forget me when you get ready for your book to be reviewed. I have it in my list of things to do and look forward to it.
Shalom aleichem,
Pat G @ EverythingMustChange
You're on my list for sure, Pat! My editor had some major personal issues going on so I'm a bit delayed - hopefully not too long off now! :)
DeleteThat is about a 8 minute drive from my house - it's gorgeous!
LOL - I'd be too busy watching whales to write.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I think I'd be distracted in most of these places, but they'd be fun!
DeleteHi, Jemi, you live right around the corner...almost...from me. LOL. I have relatives by Midland, nestled around Georgian Bay. I also love writing outdoors.
ReplyDeletePretty close for sure! It's such a beautiful world out there!
DeleteYes to all of these perfect places to write. Fall colored trees are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteMe too - won't be long until we're surrounded by them up here!
DeleteScotland is definitely the place to stay, but the forests in Ontario (or in northern Michigan) are gorgeous, and definitely writing-worthy.
ReplyDeleteThey are! My parents emigrated from Scotland and it is just beautiful!!!
DeleteYes!!! No that's some mighty fine writing settings right here!
ReplyDeleteThanks - there are so many gorgeous places in the world - I'd love to see them all!
DeleteIf I was under the Northern Lights, I wouldn't be able to write. I'd be looking up the whole time.
ReplyDeleteI know! Most of my wish-list is like that for me. I hope that once I'd absorbed the ambience it would allow me to write :)
DeleteIn the end, we probably write best where we are. After all we must love it or we wouldn't spend most of our time there.
ReplyDeleteExactly!!
DeleteGreat point! And appreciating where you are is a great way to be both productive and happy.
DeleteSo very true! :)
DeleteSo beautiful. I love Canada so much. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnna from elements of emaginette
Me too! :)
DeleteA tree house sounds cool. But I'm a little scared of heights so I'd probably pass on that.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted a tree since I read Swiss Family Robinson as a kid :)
DeleteI've developed that fear too, so it won't be too high up!
All those places sound fabulous!
ReplyDeleteParis is my all-time favorite city.
A log tree-house writing getaway also crossed my mind...
Happy IWSG Day!
Writer In Transit
We could share! I'm not shocked we had similar selections!
DeleteAll of those places sound wonderful! This hop is adding places to my bucket list. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy IWSG!
Me too - the only one on my list I've been to is Scotland and that was as a teen. Would love to go back one day!
DeleteBut would you actually get around to doing any writing as you sat around your Canadian lake?
ReplyDeleteMaybe... maybe not! :)
DeleteIt's so easy to be immersed in our beautiful nature!
The Serengeti (which sounds like a gourmet pasta) for me. I suspect reading would temporarily be replaced with gawking though. Which is fine.
ReplyDeleteLOL - it does sound Italian, doesn't it? :)
DeleteMe too - I'd love to visit and enjoy - I'd store up the inspiration for later
I would just like anywhere where I could find some peace and quiet, and not be distracted too much!
ReplyDeleteI have a Tigger Brain - I'm always distracted! Might as well be by something beautiful!
DeleteI love absolutely every single place you picked! Have you ever read Harry's Trees? Your tree house idea reminded me of it as the main character lives in fantastical tree house!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read that yet - I'll have to check it out!
DeleteWhat gorgeous places to write, Jemi!!
ReplyDeleteThey are - or at least I imagine they are - most I've visited only in pics :)
DeleteI will definitely join you overlooking that lovely lake! Outdoors under the Northern Light sounds too cold for writing.
ReplyDeleteLOL - but worth bundling up to watch!!!
DeleteI love the idea of your Canadian writing retreat, Jemi. It sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome to join me in my tree house ... once I build it of course! :)
DeleteLots of places for me too,and Canada is one of them. I always wanted to visit Prince Edward Island because I love L M Montgomery. Happy IWSG! Juneta @ Writer's Gambit
ReplyDeleteThere are so many places of beauty in my world!
DeleteI'd love to get out to PEI too - Anne was my favourite book as a child!
Wow, so many wonderful places to write! I like the way you think! :)
ReplyDeleteMight as well think big! :) Dreams are so much fun!!
DeleteI wouldn't be able to write under the Northern Lights. I'd be too busy looking at them.
ReplyDeleteMe too! But I'd still like to try! :)
DeleteDon't think I'd join you in the forest (lovely picture though). I'd be too busy keeping my guard up and looking over shoulder for something sinister lurking in the forest.
ReplyDeleteBut save me the date for the Northern Lights.
You're on!
DeleteOur forests are notoriously safe - if you leave the critters alone, they'll do the same!
Hello....i have always wanted to be a writer. I have great ideas on books but my mind jumps from this to that and I don't think a book will ever be something I will pull off....however just recently started submitting articles for a local magazine. I am excited my first one will come out in Nov. This is a cool group.
ReplyDeleteThat's so awesome! Having the courage to submit is so important in being a writer. Congrats on the publication - so exciting! :)
DeleteWhat a gorgeous photo! Being able to gaze out at fall leaves while writing would be such a wonderful view, for sure!
ReplyDeleteIt is! We're surrounded by houses, but this view is less than 10 minutes drive from my house!
DeleteNorthern Lights . . . How cool would that be? But, on an average day, I'm with you. I love sitting outdoors with a nice breeze, hearing the leaves chitchat and the branches stretch their limbs.
ReplyDeleteI know! I'd love to sit under that beauty!
DeleteAnd, yes, home is best!
luv this guy.
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming you mean Alex - and I agree! He's awesome!!
DeleteHI Jemi,
ReplyDeleteWOW, those are some amazing writing spots for sure...but the final is what makes you the most comfortable, and that is our home town.
Exactly! There truly is no place like home! :)
DeleteOoh, a treehouse in the forest. Now, that's a sweet spot to write!
ReplyDeleteIt would be awesome!! :)
