Cupcakes!

The wonderful Stephanie Thornton over at Hatshepsut: The Writing of a Novel awarded me the Super Sweet Award. Makes me happy just looking at it! Who doesn't need a little cupcake love now and again? Thanks so much, Stephanie :)

This award asks me to name 10 things that make me happy & then pass the award on to some friends. Piece of cake! (Pun intended - sorry)

So, what makes me happy?
1. Family & friends of course :)
2. All of you!
3. Libraries - the smell, the sounds, the people, the comfy chairs and the books!
4. Northern Ontario - we have some of the best scenery in the entire world!
5. Tigger... bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy, fun, fun, fun, fun, FUN!
6. Large, fluffy snowflakes when there's no wind at all!
7. Fringe, Firefly, Torchwood, Battlestar G & of course Star Trek :)
8. Music - pretty much all kinds. Pretty much.
9. Hockey. I AM Canadian.
10. My Olympic mitts (sorry for the reminder Elspeth!!!)

Now, to pass the yummy award on to some of my blogging buddies!
1. Debra Schubert over at Write on Target. Deb was the 1st total stranger to comment on my blog, retweet me & become a follower. Thanks so much!
2. Elspeth Antonelli over at It's a Mystery- I may have the mitts, but Elspeth's getting the actual Olympics!
3. Mason Canyon over at Thoughts in Progress. Mason writes a great blog & has the most amazing line up of guest bloggers!
4. Alexa over at Not Enough Bookshelves. Alexa has great info on and input into the YA scene. Cover Wars is one of her regular features.
5. Belle over at Ms. Bookish. Belle is an eclectic blogger with great insights!
6. Livia Blackburne over at A Brain Scientist's Take on Creative Writing. Really intriguing insights into the workings of the brain!
7. Donna Carrick over at Donna's Blog. Donna is a great writer & friend on Twitter!

If you haven't "met" some of these folks, check them out - you won't regret it :)

So what makes you happy? Just one thing!

I LOVE Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek - big-time, major love. I also love hockey (my family cheers for the Calgary Flames, believe it or not), and libraries are the best! :-)

Just one thing??? Really? That's a tough one Jemi!

I've got it! (I think)

Having an open mind.

Having an open mind makes me happy because, it allows one to accept the many hidden blessings that life has to offer.

I think you may have just inspired a new blog post hun. :)

I'll definitely check out those sites. I have to admit that I LOVE your top 10 list especially #4. Despite I'm from Toronto originally, Northern Ontario does offer spectacular views for any nature lover. :)

Thanks for sharing.

Jenny - I love it - a new day is the best. Fresh start.

Shannon - another scifi fan! Hooray!

I've got Iginla & Phaneuf in my hockey pool :)

Layna - that's an amazing choice. An open mind makes all things possible. Can't wait for the blog post!

N. Ontario is spectacular :)

Congrats on your award, Jemi!! You make me happy, too, so you are most deserving. And Tigger rock. A bouncy furball of fun. And that photo? Wow! Makes me want to head to Ontario.

Okay, by far the WORST word verification prompt I've gotten..."prowar". OMG, It was so bad I had to share it. But ....your awards and your blg still rock. ;)

Jemi Fraser said...

Carol - thanks!! You're so sweet Isn't Tigger great :)

We do live in a beautiful area!

Not a good verification word - some of them are downright scary!

Climbing into a warm bed on a cold winter night makes me happy!

And I love cupcakes!

And....I left you a present on my blog. No pressure, promise!

You're welcome! It's a well-deserved award!

I loooove Star Trek, but really only The Next Generation. I go through spurts every couple years where I have to watch all the episodes (except some of the really early ones). It's the best!

Jemi Fraser said...

Yvonne - Yes! That's a good one!

Thank you - I'll pop over :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Stephanie - TNG is my favourite as well :) Some of those early ones are pretty bad, but other than that love it!

Firstly, congrats on yet another award! It's hardly surprising though. We all love your blog.

What makes me happy? When someone/anyone smiles. It's simply contagious :)

PS. And those who call me Michelle :)

PPS. Re: that pic. Wow! And I thought NZ was gorgeous!

Jemi Fraser said...

Wendy - Aawww - you're so sweet! Even after I pull a dingbat stunt :)

You're so right on smiling - contagious for sure!

NZ is absolutely gorgeous as well from your photos - I'd love to visit one day.

Jemi, those sci-fi shows make me happy, too! And hockey is just great. The Winter Classic game on New Year's Day was the best.

Jemi Fraser said...

Diane - Woohoo - another scifi AND hockey fan :)

I love the outdoor classic. There's talk of doing 2 a year. That would be lots of fun!!

Jemi - three things:
1. Wasn't going to indulge in any blog visits today but scrolled through my reader, saw the title, 'Cupcakes!' and couldn't hold back.

2. Tigger makes me happy, too! How could he not? But then Eyore also makes me happy which most people think is weird.

3. Congratulations (and what a gorgeous photo)!

Congratulations on your award Jemi and thank you for thinking of me and the kind words about my blog. There's a lot of things that make me happy, but one new one - blogging buddies like you. :)

I love Tigger! Congratulations Jemi.

Congrats on your award. Another well deserved recognition.

Today, your picture of the woods and the lake made me happy. I love "up north" and would have my retirement home there if I could. DH doesn't like the idea of bears so much...

Livia Blackburne said...

Thanks for thinking of me, Jemi :-) Those cupcakes look delicious...

If I said getting blog awards makes me happy, would I seem shallow? :)

Congrats!
Fresh out of the oven chocolate chip cookies made me happy. :)

Looking at the comments on my blog and reading that one of my comic strips made someone laugh out loud. (I sound like such a blogger, don't I?!)

Elana Johnson said...

Congrats! That award is totally cute. And hey! My mom is from Kitchener, which I know isn't northern, but still. *waves*

One thing that makes me happy: indoor plumbing.

Elspeth Futcher said...

Thanks so much for thinking of me, Jemi! You're still holding on to those mitts, by the way. I'm just saying.

VR - cupcakes will do it every time!!

I love Eeyore as well - I've got a great sweatshirt with him on it. :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Mason - Thanks and you're very welcome! I love my blog buddies as well :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Natalie - everyone needs a little Tigger in their lives :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Cat - LOL :) Tell DH we hardly ever see bears on the streets! We've only had to have indoor recess a few times for "bears in the neighbourhood". And a few for moose. A couple for cougar. Of course, we are in the middle of the city....

Jemi Fraser said...

Livia - you're welcome!! Cupcakes are always good for a smile :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Simon - not even a little bit! They're so much fun :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Jennifer - Mmmm - me too! Might have to just go make some :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Wayne - Bloggers are great people! And your comics are ALWAYS good for a smile :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Elana - *waves back*

Indoor plumbing is GOOD! My mom (who grew up without it) always says... "never pass up an opportunity for a flush toilet". Great family wisdom :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Elspeth - You're very welcome & I'm still hanging on with my greedy little paws :)

I love House, True Blood, Grey's, The Mentalist and Lie to Me . I think I'm going to love Glee - but it's early-days here.

Thank you for stopping by and commenting on my Blog. You are always so supportive and thoughtful.

You said that over used words are one of the writer's biggest headaches. I agree, all it takes is the same word positioned one on top of the other, at the start of the line, and I have to re-write whole sections. Over-used words can make the work look amaturish, or outdated, before it has even been finished.

Jemi Fraser said...

Elaine - I like The Mentalist too, but I haven't seen the others.

You're welcome - I enjoy visiting :)

Those overused words are such a pain!

Lisa & Laura - Thanks! I am lucky to live in a gorgeous part of the world :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Elizabeth - thanks! Some of my best childhood memories are in libraries. Weird, but true :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Helen - Thanks :) We've got lots of snowflakes, but it's unseasonably warm right now - almost up to freezing. Weird, weird weather for January!

Twitter, because it lead me to you and other twitter pals. :D

Also literally, because when I'm feeling blue you and the other twitter friends always find a way of cheering me up. Sometimes instantly!

Twitter-friends rock! Thanks so much for being one, Jemi. :)

p.s.: No less important, congrats *one more* blog award! Are you collecting these things or something? heh

Jemi Fraser said...

Mari - so very, very true!! I'm truly amazed at how many friends I've found through Twitter! I've really enjoyed getting to know you :)

Thanks - it makes me smile and blows my mind all at the same time!

I've never seen snow!
I recently did a 10 happy things list - it's hard to stop once you start making that list tho!

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Michelle - wow. You've never seen snow. Hard to imagine! It's fun. Well, maybe not when it's still here in April, but still :)

It's great that thinking about happy things generates even more happy thoughts!

Thanks so much for dropping by :)
