Wishes

May 2014 be the year we all...

laugh like 2 year olds

cry for someone else

reach out with willing hands

find one true treasure

make a new friend

find time for simple pleasures

step toward our dreams

love with all our hearts

inspire someone

take a risk that scares us

give hope where it's needed

create something magical

believe

Best wishes for you all!
What would you add to my list?

Fresh Starts

Well, 2013 has been here for over a week now. How's it treating you? We've all finally gotten rid of the flu virus (I hope!!) that haunted us for most of the holidays. Nasty stuff - hope it stayed far away from all of you. Is everyone relaxed, refreshed and ready to make this a great year? Hope so!

I'm NOT a resolution maker - never have been. I tend to focus on next steps as opposed to longer goals - otherwise I get lost in the big plans and dreams and forget about taking those steps. Baby steps work best. One thing at a time.

Today I'm over at From the Write Angle talking about Fresh Starts. I think we all need those once in a while! I hope you'll pop on over and add to the discussion!

How about you? Do you make those resolutions ... and do you keep them? Do you like fresh starts too?

Are You A Resolutioner?

'Tis the season to make resolutions ... but I never make them. Ever. Although not for the same reasons as Calvin!

I've been cruising around the Internet and reading all about the wonderful resolutions people make. Some folks are even talking about how they achieved their resolutions...which means they actually wrote down their resolutions, remembered them, worked at them and evaluated their progress. Wow. I'm SO impressed.

But I still won't be making any resolutions this year. I used to feel guilty for not making them. But I may have figured out why resolutions don't work for me. Most of the resolutioners seem to be list makers too. Probably even outliners. *shudder* Their desks might even be organized without using piles on top of it. Maybe. :)

My brain doesn't work that way. I don't think in lists. I don't approach tasks from the details out. Big pictures come first for me. Details come later on. I've got more of a global brain rather than a linear brain. I do strive to be better, to do better, but it doesn't happen via resolutions.

That's my excuse reason and I'm sticking to it! So, are you a resolutioner or not? Does it work for you?

No Guilt!

I'm not a big fan of resolutions for myself. I understand the theory, but it just doesn't work for me. I tend to tinker with my life in little steps rather than giant resolutions.

Like many of you. I'm pretty busy. I tend to be a little OCD about my job. To me, teaching is more than a job - it's a passion. I spend a minimum of 50 hours a week on my job, but it's generally more than that. Sometimes a lot more! Then there's my family - hubby & 2 teens - and their lives. Plus nieces and nephews and all of their sporting activities to attend.

So, if I can make a resolution to increase the number of hours in a day, especially if those hours are just for me, I'm in! Other than that I think I'll just keep doing what I always do. My best. I'll write and revise when and as I can. When I'm able to, I'll blog and visit blogs of my friends. I'll squeeze in the Twitterverse for fun.

And I won't feel in the least bit guilty. The real world has to come first for me. I love, LOVE, my writing. Bringing characters to life on paper is so much fun. I enjoy torturing them with nasty plot twists and seeing how they handle it. I even like the way revising and editing make my story tighter and stronger - well most of the time I like it! :) Writing is a vital, important part of my life.

But, it's not my real world. So my resolution will be to keep doing my best, to keep living my multiple lives to the fullest. Let the fun continue!

How about you? Are you a resolution setter? In your real life or in your writing?

On another note, I've been lucky enough to be awarded two more blog awards! First thanks so much to the lovely Sara McClung at her blog: The Babbling Flow of a Fledgling Scribbler. She awarded me the Picasso Award (aka From Me to You Award).

The delightful Natalie Bahm at her self-titled blog awarded me the Superior Scribbler Award. Thanks so much, Natalie!

These ladies are fabulous bloggers and if you haven't checked out their blogs yet, do yourself a favour and pop over to have some fun!
