Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day!

I love being Canadian - I love our country, our landscapes, our food, our multi-cultural & multi-lingual heritage, our attitudes and our people! It's a great place to be!

Our Amercian neighbours celebrate their birthday in a few days too - so Happy July 4th to you as well!

What's your favourite thing about your country?

Happy Canada Day to you!! I love the "idea" of Canada. I love sharing our lakes with you and having a border we can comfortably cross with ease. As the heat progresses, Canada beckons!

Jemi Fraser said...

Mary - thanks! I think so too :)

Yvonne - I agree! But we're heading up to temps of 100 too *sigh* Maybe further north!

Happy Canada Day to you, too (from Toronto)! Hope you're having a wonderful day.

Beth - I bet there are some great fireworks tonight there on the waterfront! Have fun! :)

Hey Jemi,
How's it goin' eh? :) Here's wishing all my friends and family, a most peaceful, positive Canada Day.
Rejoice in the beauty and the diversity in the awesome land that is Canada.
Of course, being from Canada, I miss the warmth of the people, the amazing landscapes and the beautiful wildlife. In England, I love their sense of humour and irony.
Have a fantastic, safe and peaceful Canada Day!
See ya' later, eh Gary :)

I like all the things you mentioned about Canada. The food is tremendous and the variety too.

Jemi Fraser said...

Gary - there's a lot to love about Canada! My parents emigrated from Scotland years back and I'd say they share that love of irony with the English! :) Enjoy the day!

Harvee - the diversity makes us so rich and vibrant. We're so very lucky!

Happy Canada Day.

I love that in America we are still free to gather in numbers, worship how we want, and enjoy our freedoms. Many countries don't allow any of that.

Happy Day to our beloved allies to the north. Good on ya, Canada.

Happy Canada Day!!!!!! Yay!! Take care

Jemi Fraser said...

Diane - we are so lucky in our 2 countries to have all those freedoms and rights. I wish the world would follow our examples!

Susan - thanks! It's always great to be Canadian - but it's fun to celebrate it loudly once in a while!

Old Kitty - thanks! It's a good day! :)

I lived in Toronto for awhile when I was 14. I remember sweet people, a super cool science museum, and a sparkly clean city. I raise my glass to Canada.

Happy Canada Day! Hmm, my favourite thing? Being so close to the US and yet with ties to Europe, and having our own identity. We get the best of them all!

Ciara - thanks! :)

Linda - thanks so much! :)

I hope your celebration was fabulous, Jemi. Your country is a winner in so many ways. I've been in Quebec, Montreal, Niagra, Banff, Jasper, Vancouver and spots in between. It's all grand!

I love the national parks in the U.S. They are so varied and beautiful and important.

Jemi Fraser said...

Tricia - I think our 2 countries do a great job with our national parks. There are so many beautiful places that need to be preserved. People need those spaces!

Happy Canada day to all my Canadian friends. I'd say it in Canadian but I don;t speak the language.

Jemi Fraser said...

Stephen - teehee! Tu parles bien en anglais - mais tu peux parler en francais aussi! It's okay - I speak American :)

Hope your celebration is fantastic, Jemi.

I love my country because it works to keep me safe in a world that isn't, it gives me a chance to become whatever I want, it lets me criticize it all the time and never jails me when I do.

Jemi Fraser said...

Lee - we are very lucky to live in countries like that! We had a wonderful bbq with all kinds of family and great fireworks to watch! :)

I like that in Ontario, you have fireworks on Victoria Day and on Canada Day! I love the diversity of landscapes in our country--from the smallest desert in the Yukon to the marsh land of the Maritimes. It is all beautiful and not too condensed with population. I guess it is a blessing that many people in other countries think Canada is too cold to live in. :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Lynn - I agree! I like not being densely populated - there's a lot of nature out there to enjoy! The diversity of the land and the people is awesome!
