Awesome Versatility

Summer is getting closer! My excuse for hoarding these awards is that my life in June is crazy chaotic. I haven't posted as often and haven't even had the time to do a post with a lot of links. Sad but true.
Anyway, in the last couple of weeks, 4 terrific bloggers passed the Versatile Blogger award my way. Thank you all!

Bethany Elizabeth at Ink Splattered
Dave Bartlett at Bartie-Blog
Bec at Gaining My Writing Wings
Erinn at Something Else to Distract Me

These are all super creative people who are well worth a visit. You won't be disappointed! Check them out.

For this award I'm supposed to follow some rules (this doesn't always happen in my life). Let's see...
1. Thank the folks and link them (that one's easy!)
2. Share 7 things about myself (yikes!)
3. Pass along to 15 bloggers (this linking time is why I have been hoarding :))
4. Comment on their blogs to tell them of the award (I hope this happens - no promises!)

Here we go...

7 Things About Me
1. I'm a tennis addict. Currently watching Wimbledon & really unhappy I worked during the marathon match - all 3 days of it!!!

2. Once upon a time I played on a tennis team. Not very well, but I played. Practising was fun, playing in tournaments was oh-so-scary. Needless to say there are no trophies in my attic.

3. I'm going to the Roger's Cup (Toronto) - tennis tournament - in the summer and the top 40 men are supposed to be there! Can't wait!! :)

4. I love flowers, but don't know all that much about them. There's a pretty thing growing in my garden right now I don't remember planting. I think it's a weed. Gotta have my mom come by & see :)

5. Daisies are my favourite flower.

6. I nearly hit a small child once while playing horseshoes. No, he wasn't near the post. Sigh. Apparently not my sport.

7. Mushrooms and pineapple are my favourite pizza toppings.

Phew. Okay - 15 versatile bloggers it is...

1. Alex J. Cavanaugh
2. Anne Spollen
3. DL Hammons at Cruising Altitude
4. Layinda at Layinda's Blog
5. Medeia Sharif
6. Stephen Tremp at Breakthrough Blogs
7. Lola Sharp at Sharp Pen/Dull Sword
9. Niki at Wool'n'Nuts
11. Arlee Bird at Tossing it Out
13. Karen Musings at Musings of a Novelista
14. Mason Canyon at Thoughts in Progress
15. Aubrie at Flutey Words
16. (I did mention I don't always follow rules right?) Lisa Gail Green at Paranormal Point of View

Shannon O'Donnell at Book Dreaming also passed the Who's Awesome award my way. I love the puppy on this one (originally created by Stephen Tremp).

As always these are no pressure awards! Choose your favourite and do with it as you see fit :) Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Jemi -- Thank you for the Versatile Blogger award! I received it last week, but as you say linking and trying to figure out who's gotten it already can be rather time consuming. Maybe I'll just mention next Saturday that you gave this to me(since Saturday is when I mention awarda), but I might not pass it on or anything-- but who knows, that's next Saturday and things could change.

And is that mushrooms and pineapple on the same pizza? I've had Ham and pineapple together and that's pretty good.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Thanks, Jemi! I'd received this one earlier, but I'll mention your name under the award in my sidebar.
Guess I need to blog about more than movies next week or I'll lose that Versatility award!

Arlee Bird said...

Oh yeah, And Stephen gave me the Awesome Award a while back-- so I got that one already too.

Happy Canada Day! (in case I don't get around to mentioning it this week)

Lee - lol :) It's next to impossible to check! That's why I always make awards "no pressure".

I just wanted you to know I enjoy your blog and think you're doing a great job! It doesn't matter if you mention them or not - really!

Thanks - Canada Day is my first day of summer, so I can't wait!!

Jemi Fraser said...

Alex - so many people have the awards - that's why I tend to mention there's no pressure. Do with them as you will :)

I think you're doing much more than fine - the movies have been a blast!

Lisa Gail Green said...

Well thanks Jemi! What do you mean about not following the rules?? Hmmm... :) Seriously, I really appreciate you thinking of me.

Congrats on the award! :) Have a great weekend!!

Jemi Fraser said...

Lisa Gail - you're so welcome! I didn't realize how that came across! lol - I actually meant because I was including 16 not 15 bloggers! Oops! :)

Amanda - thanks - you too!

Thanks so much, Jemi. I love the puppy.

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Agnes - Are you back from Dubai?

Jemi Fraser said...

Mason - I'm really hoping for some slow lazy days of summer. I need some recuperating time!

Thanks and you're very welcome :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Medeia - you're welcome! The puppy is adorable! :)

Thanks Jemi :o)

My kids arent very impressed with the tennis. It's playing on TV in place of their children programmes.

Jemi Fraser said...

Niki - I bet they're not impressed! I always hated when things interrupted my shows too :)

You're so welcome :)

Aubrie said...

Thanks so much for the award! I love mushrooms on pizza, but have never tried pineapple. Hmmmm. Maybe I will.

Jemi Fraser said...

Aubrie - you're so welcome :)

I love the combination of the 2!

Anonymous said...

I love daisies too! Maybe because they grow wild even in our harsh climate. And I'm guessing you watched Wimbledon just recently! Congratulations on your awards!

Anonymous said...

Cool! Thanks for the award. I'll take the Versatile Blogger award as a compliment. Love to blog about this, that, and the other thing. And occasionally something else.

Stephen Tremp

Mari said...

Yup. versatile = crazy = compliment

Well, at least in my deluded mind, lol. :P

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Lynn!

I love all kinds of daisies - nothing quite like coming upon a field of them growing wild. :)

And I'm loving Wimbledon!

Jemi Fraser said...

Stephen - awesome! It is fun blogging about all kinds of things isn't it? :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Mari - totally works for me too! :) Love it!

Ann Best said...

Mushrooms and pineapple on pizza - my daughter Jen's favorite, too. And mine.

Versatility - I'm discovering, the short time I've been blogging - is very important. It's amazing to me how many different and fascinating topics the wonderful bloggers I follow keep coming up with !!

Your blog is wonderful. I really enjoy it.

Jemi Fraser said...

Ann - Woohoo! Another 2 fans of mushrooms & pineapple! :)

Thank you so much for your kind words Ann - they mean a lot!

Julie Dao said...

Congrats on all of your awards, Jemi! :) I also love tennis and used to play, and mushroom pizza is a favorite of mine (sans pineapple, but that's my Mom's area of expertise). I don't have much of a green thumb but flowers are so pretty to look at!

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Julie :)

Tennis is such a fun sport - sadly I've had tennis elbow for years and can't play anymore - but I enjoy watching!

Dawn Simon said...

Congrats on the awards and congrats to the new recipients! That was a lot of links! I've been hoarding, too, but plan to fix that soon.

Cool about the tennis. I can't play, but my kids really like it.

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Dawn! The linking takes a long time - but it was worth it :)

It's nice to hear kids are enjoying tennis - I played a ton when I was younger.

Anonymous said...

Congratulations on the awards, Jemi!

I'm also a lover of flowers, but know next to nothing about them. I do hope to learn more when I have my own garden. :)

VR Barkowski said...

Congrats, Jemi, and thank you so much for sharing the Versatile Blogger award! I'm blushing. I've been bad about awards recently, but have sworn off hoarding. To accomplish this, I've let checking go by the wayside. If someone's already received the reward, it's even sweeter the second or third time, right? Extra confirmation? :) That said, I promise not to turn around and give it back to you!

My husband loves pineapple and "Canadian bacon" on his pizza. We haven't found it in Georgia yet (one or the other, but not both). Still, we search. Oh shoot, I could have used that as one of my seven things…!

Thanks again, Jemi. :)

Natasha said...

Thank you for the Award, Jemi. You are not going to believe this, but I read this post within moments of it being up, but blogger decided to go funny on me yet again! How many friends I am going to lose because of it, I really do not know.

And a whole bunch of new links for me to check out!

Incidentally, I can't always tell teh difference between weeds and non-weeds either, and don't even try. As long as they are pretty, how does it matter what the plants are.

Unknown said...

Thanks for the mention, Jemi.

If you like the pretty thing growing in your garden then it's definitely a flower, and not a weed, unless it's strangling all your other plants of course; in which case you could always transfer it to a pot rather than just dig it up and discard it; it isn't nice to destroy something you can appreciate the beauty of.

The busy lizzie (impatiens) is one of the most popular houseplants in the UK, but over in Spain it's classed as a weed and gardeners spray it like we spray nettles. Sad really.

Jemi Fraser said...

Sandy - I've got a garden & have had one for years, but I'm still learning... slowly :)

Jemi Fraser said...

VR -you're welcome - I let the 'checking on the awards' go too. It's just too hard. And I agree - it's an affirmation :)

Good luck on your pizza topping search!

Jemi Fraser said...

Rayna - you're so right - as long as they're pretty! :)

I know how you feel with Blogger - it doesn't always treat me very well either! You won't lose any friends - we all get it :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Dave - I love impatiens (it's one of the ones I know because it grows in my shady garden!) - I can't believe some people think it's a weed!

I like the potting idea - might have to do that! :)

Theresa Milstein said...

Congratulations on your award.

The last few weeks, my daughter has been really into tennis. She was just watching Wimbledon this morning. Now she wants to take lessons.

I'm with you on the mushrooms for pizza, but not the pineapple!

Anonymous said...

Congrats and thanks for linking up another handful of bloggers to check out.

Hugs~

P.S. Mushrooms on pizza are the best!

Hannah said...

congrats on your award!!

Mmmmm, mushrooms on pizza. I just had that the other day. :)

Jennifer Shirk said...

ooh, you are a tennis lover! :)

I took lessons when I was in high school and had a pretty mean serve. I'm sorry I never continued with it.

Unknown said...

Daisies are wonderful Jemi! Congratulations on your award!

I understand being busy, I see a lot of blogs taking a backseat... not to worry I'll still be around when everyone comes back!

Jackee said...

Congrats on the awards! And pineapple on pizza! One of my favorites... though I try not to admit it in West vs. East mixed company... :o)

Jemi Fraser said...

Theresa - I'm so glad your daughter is enjoying it -it's such a great sport - and you can play it for years!

I bet you'd like the pineapple if you gave it a shot with the mushrooms - great combination :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Cat!

Mushrooms really are one of my favourite things - we have them at least 3 times a week around here :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Hannah - thanks :)

Mushrooms are the BEST - at least I think so!

Jemi Fraser said...

Jennifer - the serve is the hardest shot so I bet you were a pretty good player! I had to give it up due to injuries, but I love to watch it! :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Jen - this past month has been nuts! Even more so than usual :)

I love daisies - one of my students gave me a bouquet of them today - so sweet!

DL Hammons said...

I have this strange feeling of Deja Vu. :)

I used to LOVE to play tennis. I was in an adult tennis league for a couple years, but I haven't played in a while. :(

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Jackee!

I love pineapple, but they are a controversial topping for some reason! :) Keep it under your hat!

Jemi Fraser said...

DL - I know - the deja vu is intense! :)

Tennis is a fun sport - when we were kids there were line ups for the courts - it's so sad how few kids play any more.

WritingNut said...

Congratulations on the awards! I love pineapple and mushrooms on my pizza too :)

Helen Ginger said...

I like mushrooms and I like pineapple, but hadn't thought about getting them both as toppings on a pizza. It actually sounds good

Congrats on your awards. New bloggers to check out. Yay!

Lydia Kang said...

Congrats to the winners! I'm becoming a fan of pineapple in food that's not dessert. Will have to try that pizza!

Jemi Fraser said...

Writing Nut - thanks!

Yay - another fan! Most people seem to like or tolerate mushrooms, but not the pineapple :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Helen - I hope you give it a shot - I love the combination of flavours.

Have fun with the new links. :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Lydia :)

I think you'll like it - the pineapple adds such an interesting bite to it!

Lisa_Gibson said...

Thanks so much Jemi! Mushrooms and pineapple huh? I'll have to try that. I like pepperoni and pineapple.

Jemi Fraser said...

You're so welcome Lisa!!

I'm not a pepperoni fan - but I'll eat them if that's all that's available - my family all like them :)

Elizabeth Mueller said...

Jemi, congrats on your award! I know what you mean! I have a handful of awards that I need to recognize and pass on! Time during the summer is soooo much crazier than when school has the kids off, isn't that nuts? ;)

CATE said...

I can't stop giggling at the is it a flower or a weed, and picturing out-of-control horseshoes :)

Jemi Fraser said...

ELizabeth - it's hard to keep up some days.

Being a teacher, I'm looking forward to the summer (which starts in a couple of days!) since I'll have a lot more time to myself :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Cate - yup that's my life - deadly flowers and horseshoes! :)

Elliot Grace said...

...also a tennis fan:)

Will Roddick ever get over the hump?

Margo Berendsen said...

Oh goody, new blogs to visit! Only new about four people on your list.

Hope you don't mind me combining comments, but I noticed your previous entry on your favorite twelve movies. Those are mostly all my favorites, too. I few other eclectic ones: Armageddon with Bruce Willis and Liv Tyler, the first Transformers, Avatar, the 1997 version of Anna Karenina with Sean Bean (yum) and the English Patient (I can't figure out why I love that one so much but I watch it every year faithfully).

Talli Roland said...

Jemi, congrats on the awards! You deserve them!

And I'm so sorry to hear you missed the marathon match! It was incredible!

Shannon said...

I loved learning more about you! :) Thanks for sharing.

Jemi Fraser said...

Elliot - I know! I was so shocked to see the latest result! I was looking forward to a rematch between him and Fed.

Jemi Fraser said...

Margo - there are terrific people on that list - hope you make some new friends.

I really enjoyed the first Transformers too!

I still haven't seen Avatar - it's on my summer plan though!

Jemi Fraser said...

Talli - thanks!

I've seen highlights about the match - but it's not like seeing it live when you don't know what happens.

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Shannon!

It's a little spooky trying to decide what to say on these things! :)

Patricia Stoltey said...

Congratulations on your Versatile Blogger Award, Jemi. And I see a couple of blogs on your list I haven't visited before, so I'm off to explore.

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Pat! I know you'll enjoy the new links - they're great people :)

I had to smile while reading this post. You have an awesomely quirky way of awarding them. Loved it!

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Chary - quirky is good! At least in my book :)

dolorah said...

You are so very awesome Jemi.

I like flowers too - and thats so funny that you have to get your mom to check out weeds to if they are possible flowers. I do that too. Sometimes the look on her face at what I bring her is priceless.

But really, the things just shouldn't be so pretty.

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Yvonne - I'll add you in! :)

I just LOVE when these awards give us a little insight into the blogger! So fun!

I'm horrible at tennis, but hubs and I play from time to time. Now Federer? I could watch him ALL DAY LONG! :-)

Happy Thursday!

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Kristi!

I love watching Federer play - I was so sad to see him lose yesterday! I wanted him to get another one for the record books.
