Paradise

I do believe I live in a small corner of Paradise. I thought I'd share a few images for those of you not surrounded by glorious fall leaves. Sadly, I didn't think to take pictures until most of the leaves had lost their lustre and fallen, but the thought was there! So here you go -- past their peak, but still gorgeous!

How's that for inspiration? :) Next year I'll try to remember to take some when the leaves are at their best!

What's the best thing about your corner of Paradise?

Gorgeous!!! I love it. I'm experiencing fall and something about the air suddenly feels crisp enough to munch on. Gotta love it.

Have a great weekend. :)

Since we don't get much in the way of fall leaves here, I thank you for the gorgeous pictures. I love the colors of fall.

Mary@GigglesandGuns said...

Our leaves are just starting to fall. The frost is due next week so the story will change. Mine will be the house with two feet of leaves and NO tree!
Lovely pictures--they look like paintings.

Jemi - gorgeous pictures... makes me miss home! ~sigh~

I'd say the most gorgeous feature of my new home is the coulees. They're such an interesting feature (though nothing holds a candle to what's from home, right?) Have a great weekend!

Lisa_Gibson said...

Really gorgeous! We don't get many of the reds and oranges around here. Lots of gold though. :) Thanks for sharing!

Lola Sharp said...

So lovely. I couldn't pick a favorite if pressed. They're all gorgeous. :)

We JUST cooled down yesterday...the leaves aren't quite turning yet. Soon. Very soon. We have highs of 60's for the next 7 days. It feels autumnal finally.

I hope you're making progress on your revisions.

Happy autumn, and happy weekend, Jemi. :)
Love,
Lola

Certainly a beautiful place,
Wonderfyl pics,

Enjoy your week-end.

Cruella Collett said...

Beautiful! We have a nice colouring too, for the most part, but ours are almost exclusively yellow, so the variety isn't as great as in your pictures. Thanks for taking me on a quick walk in the forest before I have to go to work ;)

Jemi Fraser said...

Tamika - I'm in a small city in Northern Ontario (Canada). We really are surrounded by so much beauty! It's wonderful! :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Mason - I've heard Georgia is just beautiful. One of these days I'd like to get there!

Jemi Fraser said...

Rebecca - thanks! I love it! :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Lola - thanks! Our September was so odd so I think it affected the leaves too. The colours didn't last as long as they normally do. But they were still beautiful while they lasted.

I finally feel like I have a start on my revision. It's finally got the voice I want. But now it's report card season, so I won't get much done!

Jemi Fraser said...

DL - it really is. There's nothing quite like walking when the colours are in full bloom!

Jemi Fraser said...

Lenny - thanks! I'm so glad you liked them! Sudbury's in my area too :) I love Northern Ontario!

Jemi Fraser said...

DL C - there really is nothing like home. I had to look up coulees. The images on Google are extremely cool! :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Lisa - the golds are pretty, but the reds are my favourites. I have a beautiful maple that turns the most glorious shade of orange outside my bedroom. Beautiful!

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Yvonne! I hope yours is fabulous as well - you've had a nice week!

Jemi Fraser said...

Cruella - thanks! I bet you've got some lovely landscapes too! I'll have to get pictures when the reds are still in full force next year. They are spectacular.

Anonymous said...

So pretty! We don't get a whole lot of color change down here in South Carolina so I have to live vicariously through my Northern neighbors. Thanks for the show!

Elliot Grace said...

...inspiring pics, Jemi:)

Those are beautiful pics. Here, its raining but I love the rain. I write much better in the rain. Wish it were thundering and lightning though.

Jemi Fraser said...

Mary - It's hard to imagine not having those fall leaves around - one of the best parts of the year! Enjoy :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Talli - thanks! Sorry for the homesickness - but you were just here, so I'm sure you got your fill! :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Melissa - We're waiting for our first snowfall soon. We usually have at least one flurry before Halloween. It doesn't usually stay, but it gets the kids all jacked up!

Thank you for sharing these pics. They're gorgeous. Fall's my favorite season of the year, and the yellowing leaves are the best part of it. :)

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

It does look like paradise. We're still not at prime leave time here yet.

Jemi Fraser said...

Emy - I'm glad you enjoyed them! I love Fall - the colours, the cooling air - wonderful! :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Susan - I think so too! I think most folks in the States are a bit behind our colours - we'll be looking for snow soon! :)

I grew up in an area with similar beauty. I only live and hour away from my home town, but this city seems stark in comparison.

This so reminds me of home, and all things I enjoyed about my childhood.

Thanks for the journey.

Fall was always my favorite season. That's the one time of year I actually miss Michigan..

Jemi Fraser said...

Lisa - I love Fall. Michigan has lots of beauty - the parts of the UP and northern lower penninsula that I've seen are gorgeous! :)

notesfromnadir said...

Gorgeous pictures and they were taken at just the right time, not past their peek. You really get the sense of autumn in all of them. Love the 4th shot of the water tumbling over the rocks.

Jemi Fraser said...

Notes from Nadir - thanks! I do love all of the stages of fall. There are so many yards, fields and paths completely covered in leaves right now - so pretty!

WritingNut said...

Absolutely stunning pictures! I love Fall too... I think Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons, although I alternate with Summer sometimes too :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Writing Nut - thanks! Fall is definitely my fave - although it should be summer because that's when I get my time off! :)

Shelley Sly said...

Gorgeous pictures! I love the colors of fall. It's kind of sad when it all goes away with winter... but then again, the snow can create some pretty scenes, too.

Anonymous said...

Very nice pictures Jemi! I do miss ON in the fall, particularly the colourful maple leafs. In the prairies, we did have beautiful colours too but the type of leaves are smaller so less distinguishable against each other. You have a photogapher's eye.

Jemi Fraser said...

Shelley - me too! Fall is definitely my favourite season. Winter is pretty too - but it's not quite the same :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Lynn - thanks! We have a gorgeous orange maple in the back and a golden one in the front. I hope to one day add a red - they're my favourites!

Mari said...

Wow, gorgeous! The autumn is one of the most beautiful seasons of the year. No wonder Randomities is autumn themed, heh.

Great pictures you've got there Jemi! I wish I had a lake to go with the multi-colored leaves. From where I stand, the colors are about to reach their peak. ;)

Ann Best said...

Oh, gorgeous photographs! It does look like paradise. Not so colorful here this year in Virginia USA because of the hot, dry summer. Sad. I'll have to come back frequently and look at these pictures!! Thanks for posting them.
Ann

Jemi Fraser said...

Mari - I love autumn too - and yes, I've always loved your theme :)

Hope your colours are gorgeous!

Jemi Fraser said...

Ann - thanks! I do love the fall leaves :)

I thought Virginia would always be gorgeous - but you're right the weather has such an impact on the colours. Glad you enjoyed!

Jennie Bailey said...

Jemi - breathtaking! Wish that I was there!! We're in SoCal so we don't get seasons or beautiful leaves or even cool, crisp Fall for that matter.

Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving wishes for my brother. He's home, doing much better with no permanent heart muscle damage. It was enough of a scare to get him to make a lifestyle change but small enough to not do serious damage.

Natasha said...

Yes, Jemi, you do live in Paradise.

Al said...

Wow amazing.
I always want to hit the northern US or southern Canada in autumn, those colours are so amazing.

Jemi Fraser said...

Jennie - I'm so glad to hear your brother is doing better! That's such a scary situation - I'm glad a side benefit is he'll be making better choices in his life. Take care!

Jemi Fraser said...

Rayna - thanks! I believe I do :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Al - with your amazing photographer's eye, you'd love it! I missed the reds and oranges at their best, but the golds are beautiful too! When they're all out together, it's unbelievable! :)

Jayne said...

Oh beautiful picture, Jemi! Those reds and burnt oranges, the lake through the trees... where do you live again? Need a lodger?!

Jemi Fraser said...

Jayne - thanks!! I'm in Northern Ontario & it is so beautiful! You'd love it :) I actually missed the reds and oranges at their best - they can be much more vibrant. Maybe next year!

Laura Pauling said...

It looks a lot like where I live! It's past season here too through all the heavy rain and wind didn't help with the foliage this year.

Shannon said...

I think you're right about paradise - what a gorgeous area. Ohio is such a beautiful state. Thanks for sharing! =)

Janet Johnson said...

Love the pictures. So beautiful!

And just wanted to let you know I left you an award at my blog if you want it. :)

Susan Fields said...

Those pictures are fantastic! We get great fall colors, too, but we don't have the water nearby. My favorite part of fall are the beautiful reds. Yesterday I drove by a stop sign I could barely see because it was surrounded by leaves of the same color.

Anonymous said...

Gorgeous! The trees are mostly still green where I live but I can see a little bit of what's to come.

Karen Strong said...

Those are BEAUTIFUL pictures Jemi. You do live in a corner of paradise.

Still sort of green here in Atlanta, the leaves are just starting to change color. The weather is still 80 degrees though, but I'm loving that.

Julie Musil said...

Oh my gosh, those are beautiful photos! I live in So. Cal., so we don't see leaves like this. Amazing.

Belle said...

So beautiful! Our leaves are really colourful right now, and coming down in buckets. My husband's been lugging out bags and bags to the curb. But it's all very beautiful!

Jemi Fraser said...

Laura - it's amazing how different parts of the world can look so much alike! We've had some rainy/windy weather too, so we've been losing a lot!

Jemi Fraser said...

Shannon - thanks! I love it :)

I've seen some photos of Ohio and I think a lot of the landscape is quite similar :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Janet - glad you like them! :)

And thanks so much!!! I'll pop on over as soon as I'm done here :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Susan - that is so cool! My favourites are the reds too - they're so vibrant! They sometimes don't even look real they are so perfect. :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Amanda - wow! It's hard to imagine leaves being still green - we've had frost most mornings and are expecting some snow tomorrow!

Jemi Fraser said...

Karen - 80 degrees! Wow! Hard to even imagine :) I wasn't sure if the leaves would even fall in your area. I guess I'm not all that up on my geography!

Jemi Fraser said...

Julie - thanks! I don't think your trees lose their leaves at all, do they??? I didn't think they did in Texas and Georgia though and I'm finding out differently! :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Belle - lol - raking is definitely the down side! We just load up the truck bed with them and bring them down to the composting site. It does take quite a few loads :)

Lydia Kang said...

Spectacular pictures! This midwest fall foliage is pretty lame, compared to what I grew up with. What you have is magical.

Lydia Kang said...

Hey Jemi, I just saw that you posted a year ago about writing with some Chippewa characters. I have a few Ojibwe (Chippewa) characters in my WIP. Did you ever find someone to help you out?
Feel free to email me, I'm curious as to how it all turned out!

I never did find anyone to help and shelved the idea for the moment - I'll send you an email. :)

These are beautiful, Jemi - thanks for sharing them! Fall is lovely, even if it does mean the end of glorious summer.

That's beautiful! Your fall is far advanced over ours.

Jemi Fraser said...
