I'm the first to admit I'm a quirky person. I don't fit the mold - any mold.
Growing up, my parents often joked that I must have been switched in the hospital. No one else in my family loves the things I do. They're all list-making, linear, logical thinkers who can organize the heck out of a room, a desk, a house, a wardrobe and a life. Me? Well...
I love science fiction & rom coms & musicals & sports, but don't ask me to watch relationship reality shows (*shudder*). I don't own a dress or shoes with heels. I don't like hot climates. I eat the same thing for a snack and a lunch at school every day. I cry at sappy commercials - every time I see them. All my socks are the same so I don't have to worry when the washer/dryer eats one... I think I'd better stop there. :)
This post lists a lot of fun writer's quirks! So does this one. I kind of want one...
But, sadly, I don't have time for writerly quirks and if you pop over to From the Write Angle today, you'll see why.
Hope to see you there, but before you go, what quirks do you have? Any suggestions for me?

Jemi, except for the crying at commercials bit, we are frighteningly similar. (Yes, I like romantic comedies. And would be weird if I owned a dress and heels.)
Now, that either means there is hope for you or you're doomed!
I share a few of those quirks, too. Yes, I cry at commercials. And I will often eat the same thing day after day. And reality shows make me cringe.
Alex - let's go with there's hope for us - much more positive!!! And I'm so glad you don't own a dress :)
Dianne - yay! Maybe I'm not quite as odd as I thought - or maybe we writers are a quirky bunch :)
It's much more fun being quirky!
Quirky is good! There are a lot of great people in that club.
Elizabeth - it really is :)
Lee - I think we're a pretty big organization :)
I've only got one suggestion for you, Jemi. Just keep being you. I think you're great!
And you're not alone on the 'dress front'. I don't own one either *shudder*. Give me a pair of jeans and some boots and I'll be set for life - or jandals in the summer :)
I'm also quite different to the rest of my family - and wouldn't be remotely surprised if I had been swapped at birth!
Wendy - thank you!!! I'm with you on the jeans - I rarely wear anything else :)
I'm more than a little CDO (OCD in alphabetic order). =)
I loved learning about your quirks! I cry during commercials too. :) I am quirky in that I think that my plants and special objects have feelings (I blame it on The Velveteen Rabbit). :)
~Jess
Beth - that's hilarious!! I've got a little CDO in my soul too :)
Jess - thanks! You mean they don't??? I remember crying my heart out when my favourite balloon popped as a kid :P
You know what? Quirky is never boring. Actually it's refreshing!
And a warning: you'll experience very hot weather during your "still-to-be-undertaken" African safari...

Embrace quirkiness!
Yes, it's crying at commercials that caught my attention too. Strange how such a short item can tug at so many heartstrings!
Michelle - so true - it's never, ever boring around here! I know - the heat is the only down side to my safari - but it'll be worth the sacrifice!!! :)
Carol - done! :)
Rosalind - I know! I still remember this one Kodak commercial about Dieppe from a decade or so ago - and I tear up every time I think of it!!!
not fitting the mold is usually the best :) They should craft molds after us.
Dezzy - now that's a scary thought in my case!! :)
So funny reading your quirks because I completely agree with about half and feel completely the opposite about the other half. LOL. Yeah, I'm quirky too.
I tend to eat the same things and cry at commercials. But I love lists! Also wear heels and dresses and like being warm.
But I hear you about the socks. My white ones are mostly the same so I don't have to match them and I've given up matching everyone else's - I leave the pile in a basket and let them have at it!
Those were interesting links. Most writers are probably quirky. I know I am.
Cindy - That's what I do with the socks too! I spent too many years matching up socks for everyone - not doing it any more!!
Medeia - some of those were crazy! I don't mind being quirky though :)
Ha! I knew it! You're completely original and unique!
Love you Jemi as you are!
Nas - awww! Thanks so much! I'm coming to accept quirky is good! :)
Quirky people are always the most interesting! But I have to be honest - if I wrote like Truman Capote, I'd never get a word written!
Beth - no kidding! Not one single word!!!
The people who love us always find our quirks endearing, right? If you don't like someone, then their quirks will drive you insane.
One of my quirks is that I can't eat food that is served looking like what it was when it was alive (lobster, crab, sometimes fish, meat on the bone, pig roasts, etc.). And I Hate commercials where the food talks. It freaks me out.
Kari - I hope they do! :) I don't like food looking alive either - and I hate those commercials too! We're not alone! :)
Your quirks made me laugh. The socks... . We all have our quirks, so this is a fun idea for a blogfest!
Theresa - I know - the socks are bizarre :) That's a good idea! Maybe during the summer :)
I can relate, Jemi! (Although, I'm a list-maker and organizer, so we're different in that way.)
I'm not a heels or dress person either, but then again, I'm a real tomboy when it comes to style. Like you, I eat the same lunch every day. :)
Our quirks make us who we are, though. ;)
Ah, don't worry too much. The quirky ones are always the most interesting.
Shelley - that's awesome we have a few quirks in common! :)
Ethan - I've never been told I'm boring, anyway :)
love your quirks! Especially the one about having all the same socks. Smart move!
