Spring Optimism

Camp NaNoWriMo is here and I've pitched my tent and am camping out for the month. While we still have piles of hardened snow in our front and back yards, we also have these popping up, so spring is finally on the way!

After piecing together my last draft and doing a round of revisions, I needed to let it sit for a bit, so it's a perfect time for NaNo.

I've set my goal at 30k for the month, but I'm already over 20k, so I know I won't have any trouble meeting it.

This story is a companion novel to the previous draft and another in my potential Bloo Moose series. I feel like I'm finally making progress incorporating conflict into my stories, and the last 3 stories will hopefully be publishable after a few more rounds of revisions and edits.

Maybe it's just spring making me optimistic, or the excitement of NaNo, but I feel I'm becoming a stronger writer and hoping I'll have the confidence to put those stories out there when they're ready!

How about you, is spring making you optimistic too? Or am I the only delusional one around here?

Spring is here, too, and I'm lovin' it!

Nope, I'm feeling really optimistic too! Maybe it's the weather, or maybe (in my case) a few days' break from query letters. Sounds like you're having a really productive month!

Yay, that's awesome! I look forward to hearing more about your work. :) I think, after a long and cold winter, a lot of us are feeling optimistic now that spring is here!

I'm sort of doing Camp NaNoWriMo too. I say sort of, because I started on one project, inserted scenes from another project, then screeched to a halt and finished editing on another manuscript and submitted it. I'm heading back to Camp this afternoon to pick up where I left off...hopefully. But yes, I'm optimist. I'm writing again, and I'm very happy about that.

Spring and sunshine always make me optimistic. :-)

I think the more you write, the more you see drags and sags and fix them the better you become.

Glad things are coming together for you!

This is awesome news... Congrats, Jemi!

The crocuses are gorgeous!

I love spring, it's my favorite time of year.... And I am optimistic because I will be leaving the freezing midwest soon and relocating to Tampa, Florida... Yes, I am ready for six months of spring.....

Keep up the optimism and word count. Those crocus are very inspiring. I think I'll go write something. :-)

Pat - that sounds like a fun month or so of writing!! My ADHD tendencies approve :)

Sya - exactly! I've spent the last few years learning and it's coming together!

Michael - I've never been to Florida or anywhere south for that matter. I hope you have a wonderful time!

Lee - thanks! Crocuses make me smile every single time!

Those crocuses are beautiful! That's what I miss the most about not living in a house any more. My garden. There's only so much you can do in a condo, plant-wise. :(

I have been feeling the opposite. Looking at the first major round of revisions for my children's novel and feeling oh so overwhelmed. I have three different versions of this story and I need to pull parts from each of them to try to tell the story I want to tell. Trying to map out a method right now. One step at a time, right?

Great milestones you're achieving Jemi. And its good to let a MS set for a while. Let it simmer on the back burner.

Hey Jemi!

How's it goin' eh? :)

Oops, you've made mention of NaNo NaNo. Cue Mork and Mindy! All the best with that. If it inspires you, enhances your writing prowess, then that's totally awesome :)

Spring brings out the optimism in me, my perhaps, fellow delusional friend...

Thanks for your positive interaction, Jemi. It means a lot.

Gary, eh!

Belle - one step at a time is the only way to work! I bet you'll figure it out and you'll love the newest version.

Stephen - I love the back burners! I'm always amazed at what i find when I look again :)

Gary - you're very welcome. We possibly-delusional types must stick together! Nanu nanu! :)

Jess - I love spring too. Thanks! I'm truly hoping I'm not crazy about the progress I think I"m making :)

Beautiful flowers. I'm almost done with a draft, so I'm feeling optimistic this spring. I tend to write a lot at this time. Things slow down at the day job, plus I have vacation time soon.

Jemi Fraser said...

Thanks Linda!

Medeia - I think I feel most optimistic with a new story in my head, but not on paper. Love those first drafts! :)
