Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
And we’re revving up IWSG Day to make it more fun and interactive! Every month, we'll announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG Day post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.
December's IWSG Questions: In terms of your writing career, where do you see yourself five years from now, and what’s your plan to get there?
This is the toughest question yet!
I'm not a great planner, but I am a great dreamer. So, let's see. In five years, I hope to have 3-5 novels out in my Bloo Moose series. I hope to be starting in on another series while continuing to add to Bloo Moose.
How am I going to get there?
Lots and lots of hard work! I've learned a ton since September (thanks to the amazing people I've encountered via a PitchWars contest) and I think this may finally be a doable goal. I'm still learning and have a ways to go, but I finally feel like that goal is within reach.
How about you? Are you more of a planner or a dreamer? Where do you hope to be?

I'm hoping to have at least two books published, with number three on the way--dream big!
We need Bloo Moose! Make it happen.
Yeah, it was a tough question for me.
You can do it, Jemi. Can't wait to read not one, but numerous, books in the Bloo Moose series.
It's within reach - go for it.
Glad you're learning so much from the pitch wars. I never did them. Good luck with your goals.
I have a hard time planning five months ahead, so trying to figure out the next five years is next to impossible for me. I guess that makes me more of a dreamer.
I'm not a planner, either. Goals are great, though. Something to strive for. Sounds like you have the confidence to reach yours. Great!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family.

"Lots and lots of hard work!" I love that answer because it's so honest. To reach any goal or plan, we have to put in lots of hard work. :) I wish you all the best, Jemi!
Yes, loads of hard work...that's the answer!
I was always taught that hard work doesn't kill you but is good for the soul.
You can do this. Keep at it.
Happy IWSG Day!
Agreed! That's the only way it might happen! :)
It is tough!
And, thanks! I'm hoping it'll happen one day soon :)
Yay!!! Thanks Mason - you're awesome :)
It's getting closer!
This was a last minute Why Not? kind of moment and it was well worth it :)
I bet you have! :)
Me too! Yay for dreamers :)
I hope I've got that confidence. It hides some days, but I'm forcing it out soon :)
Thankfully, we're not afraid of hard work - or we wouldn't be writers!! :)
Thanks!!
Hard work generally is the answer to most of life's troubles and goals! :)
I'm more of a dreamer I guess. I do plan, but those plans never work out, so I use the dreams to keep me pointed in the right direction.
Best wishes with your dreams!
I dream, over-plan, and then revise the goals, as needed. :)
More of a planner...man, I feel like as a writer I should be more of a dreamer. Maybe this is why self-publishing has been so alluring. Write on! You'll make your dreams and goals! Christy
Good for you, Jemi! At least you are on your way~ KEEP up the good work and have fun!
We never stop learning! Best wishes for your goals.
Your plan sounds very doable to me. Cheering for you!
I like that! Those dreams are important :)
Thanks Tyrean! Goals are important :)
I wish I was more of a planner! :)
I'll definitely keep writing!
Thank you! It's all about the joy & the fun! :)
Thanks Lynda - the learning part is always fun! :)
Thanks Susan - I hope so! :)
Sounds like a good plan to me. Wishing you much success. Happy Holidays

I'm passionate about planning, but it always takes me longer to finish a piece than I plan for it to take. But as long as I continue to work on it, I'm happy. It'll get finished eventually. Right?!?
Hi Jemi. I think without planning and tons of hard work we won't make it, whatever 'it' is to each of us. I wish you well with your goals. :-)
Thanks Juneta! :)
You will! It's all about getting across that finish line - every journey is different :)
Thanks Denise! Agreed - we'll reach those goals only with hard work :)
Jemi, I've always been a dreamer but recently have gotten pretty darn good at planning. It really takes both to make a lot of progress and see results so the detail portion of planning is working well for me.
That's great to hear! I'm working on it, but the progress is kind of snail-like :)
I definitely plan. I don't always accomplish, but I've become a serious planner.
I guess I'm a planner AND a dreamer. Hard to say where I'll be in 5 years. I took an unexpected turn into corporate writing and am quite enjoying that right now. I just try to keep my mind open to whatever pops up! (So maybe I'm more of a dreamer....)
I wish! I'm trying though! ;)
Love it! Life is ever-changing so we have to be flexible AND ready - and you're both!!! Enjoy :)
Plans are made after dreaming, Jemi so yeah, we all dream and plan.
So true!! :)
