Shoulders laden
Hope bruised
Worn down
Worn through
Worn thin
Heartache
Loss
Defences weakened
Eroded from the inside and out
Our world
So much hate
So much pain
Drained
Worn down
Worn through
Worn thin
But still
Shoulders back
Chin up
Heart open
Hope alive
Hope ready
Hope able
Worn down
Worn through
Worn thin
But
Not worn out
Not yet
Not ever

Worn down but never totally worn out, not where there is still hope.
This is awesome, Jemi. Love how you end this with hope.
Such a sad poem, but I love that it ends with resilience xo
Hope is a much better outlook.
And there's always hope!
Thanks Natalie :)
Thanks Beth - we're all about resilience :)
Exactly - and nothing can truly take that away
Very touching. I'm so tired sometimes, but I'm not done yet.
Me neither! :)
Yes. I hear what you're saying. There are times when I don't think getting up and getting dressed will happen, but it does. And the next thing I know, I'm enjoying my day and all is good.
Dr Leonard H McCoy said in Star Trek V, "you've just got to hang on" and thats life win or fail always give it your best shot.
Glad you were able to end in hope. Maybe someday I'll be able to get there too.
Life can be exhausting and overwhelming - but you're right, it's all about one step at a time!
So true! And while I'm a writer, not a doctor!!! I'll go along with his medical advice :)
You will! I know it's so damn hard some times, but you will!
Our world beautifully put.
Love it, Jemi. Poetry says it so well in so few words. :-)
Beautifully said. As long as there is hope, we can survive. :)
Thank you Yvonne!
We can. Hope is all!
XO
LOVE it. That last part totally grabbed me. Who doesn't feel that way on a daily basis? But we're never beaten until we give up.
Hi Jemi.
Lovely and truthful. We all feel this way at different times.
So very, very true. It's the only way to get through :)
We do! 2016 and 2017 have not been soft and gentle!
Perfect. Never worn out.
Lovely poem, Jemi. I love that it ended with hope. :)
Never :)
Thanks! I think it's always best to end with hope :)
Came back to see if things are better in your part of the world. Hope so.
True this!
