I adore Spring! Here in Northern Ontario, we have to work really hard, and wait really long for our Spring!
For reference, these two pics were taken 3 days apart (April 17 & 20). After about 12 inches of snow that first day, the sun popped out and temps zipped above freezing. Cue the hope that the snow might eventually melt and the flowers might grow!
So, yes, Spring does inspire me to write - but with the new growth all around, it's also the time for Shiny New Ideas to show their faces and try to force their way into my writing schedule. With all the current projects already competing for my rather limited writing time, I'm doing my best to ignore the cute little SNIs, but it's hard!
How about you? Do Shiny New Ideas pop up in Spring where you live too?

That is a lot of snow. I assume it's all gone now?
I don't need spring for new ideas to spawn. They come whether I want them or not.
Whew! Ontario... I love Canada--think it's gorgeous, but I could never live there. I lived on the border for a year and a half, and I'm enjoying my nose and toes not being numb all the time.
I've only seen snow like that in Albuquerque. I can't imagine getting it this late in the season.
I'm so over snow!! Glad it's melting. Ideas always pop up especially when I'm driving or doing something where I can't write them down.
I hear you about snow. Our issue up here in Maine (or down here, from your point of view) isn't as sever as yours, but it's pretty close. Good luck working on your numerous projects!
That is a lot of snow. Oh my! Hopefully spring is on its way very soon. :)
Would not know it was Spring with all that snow. Looks like it will be May showers bring June flowers.
Our weather's been cold and wet, but not snowy. Hope yours warms up soon. My SNIs come as I'm hearing the news, generally, or when I'm working on a manuscript. I don't think the seasons have much to do with it. Happy May!
"I'm doing my best to ignore the cute little SNIs, but it's hard!" I hear you. Whenever I have projects with imminent deadlines, shiny new ideas seem to pop up.

After the cold cold, snowy snowy winter we've had in MO USA, I don't like looking at your pictures. :)
Hey congrats on the Anthology book!
The shiny new ideas pop up all the time... doesn't matter what season we're in. LOL
It's autumn my side of the globe...lovely weather.
Happy IWSG Day!
Hmm. I think I have more SNIs pop up during the fall for some reason.
I'm able to keep the SNIs at bay by jotting them down in a notebook. If they intrude into my WIP writing time, coffee usually fixes that. Happy writing to you in the merry month of May!
It's so true that we appreciate things we have to work for or wait for. Here's to spring in your neck of the woods, Jemi. And congrats on your super story in Tick Tock.
Not quite - still have a few pockets of melting snowbanks :)
LOL - I'm not a huge fan of frozen body parts, but I do love having my 4 seasons!
We tend to always get a snow dump or two in April - sometimes even May :)
I know! Melting is very, very good!
I've got more ideas squashed into this little brain than I'll ever have time to write! :)
Yep - Maine is definitely down from our POV! :P
Thanks - you too!!
Our crocuses have popped up so that's a good sign. Waiting on the tulips now!
That's pretty much it! :P
I've always got some pushy SNIs but they do seem to reproduce in spring!
That's exactly when they're mostly likely to show up!!!
LOL - sorry! Hate to inflict further snow on you!! :)
Thank you!
Those SNIs are persistent little buggers!!
Autumn is always my favourite season!
Interesting! That cool crisp air might be good for them!
I have a computer file labeled Ideas, but I never actually get to using most of them as new SNIs keep popping up as I learn more :)
Thanks Lee - same to you!!!
My shiny new ideas tend to show up at the new year. I don't know why and I don't ask questions. ;-)
Anna from elements of emaginette
We had snow like that when we lived in Northern Illinois. Not nearly as much in Central Illinois. I am plagued with new ideas all the time. My challenge is to stick-to-finish with one at a time.
I hope your snow is finally gone. Congrats on your story! I have my copy of TICK-TOCK and am looking forward to reading all the stories.
LOL - I don't either - I just tell them to get in line! :)
It is SO easy to get distracted by the SNIs!!
Not quite gone yet, but it won't be long now!!
Snow just wouldn't stop happening this spring. We went from what felt like winter last week to summer this week. Good weather sends me outside not to the keyboard.
We finally got a really nice day here - close to 80 I think! Thankfully the weather does not affect my writing, only my mood, which is always better when there's more sun.
Yesterday and today were the first great days of spring/summer here. I love it but also must get out to my garden. Congrats on your book release. Yay!
Congrats on Tick Tock. I can't wait to read it. Beltane and a full moon days apart can't help but inspire some new ideas!
Congrats on the release of Tick Tock! It's an awesome collection. :) I went to college in North Bay, and I don't remember snow being gone by the time the school year ended.
That snow is just crazy! I'm partway through Tick Tock - loving it so far. Can't wait to get to your story :-)
And we have to enjoy those summery days while we can!
Yes - I'm totally with you on the mood!
Thanks Natalie!
Enjoy that garden :)
Thanks!
That must be what's supercharging the SNIs!
You're right - North Bay probably isn't far off from our weather :)
YAY! So glad you're enjoying the anthology!!
Congrats on your story! That's wonderful! I'm so happy for you!!
Regarding the question, I LOVE spring in Washington! It's beautiful! That said, I'm not sure whether the seasons affect my productivity. I definitely get the most done in summer, but that's because I work in an elementary school and we have summers off. :)
I tend to be more motivated in the spring and summer. Not sure if it is the weather or more daylight. I know in the winter I tend to feel tired when it gets dark. :)
