Shannon Lawrence & Happy Ghoulidays!

Shannon's latest book is out and about on November 20th!!

In celebration we're talking about our favourite cold-weather holidays.

I live in Northern Ontario in Canada so we have a lot of these! My favourite is definitely Christmas. We almost always have a white Christmas. I actually only remember one year having a green Christmas. That was so weird for us!!

Growing up we had a small in our back yard so we often spent Christmas afternoon taking our new toboggans or magic carpets down the hill. I'm sure our parents were thrilled to have us outside for most of the day!

The holidays can be a stressful time, as we all know, but I'm hoping to lighten up this winter season with a little holiday horror.

Maybe "lighten up" isn't the right term.

The first story begins the winter holidays with Thanksgiving, with stories representing Christmas, Hanukah, Hogmanay (the New Year), Yule, Groundhog Day, and, finally, Valentine's Day. From serious horror to tongue-in-cheek. Read them all at once or save them for their holidays. Or both!

Release day is November 20, which also happens to be my birthday! Just in time for Thanksgiving week. You can pre-order the Kindle version, with other versions, including paperback, available on release day.

Blurb: Family time can lead to murder and mayhem, especially during the holidays. A turkey with a tale to tell, elves under attack, sorority sisters putting on a killer party, a woman's desperation to save her family, and a stranger ringing in the New Year. These and other tales of woe await you beneath the mistletoe.

Be careful who you offer a kiss. It may be your last.

About the Author: A fan of all things fantastical and frightening, Shannon Lawrence writes in her dungeon when her minions allow, often accompanied by her familiars. She writes primarily horror and fantasy. Her stories can be found in several anthologies and magazines, and her collections, Blue Sludge Blues & Other Abominations and Bruised Souls & Other Torments, are available in stores. You can also find her as a co-host of the podcast “Mysteries, Monsters, & Mayhem.” When she's not writing, she's hiking through the wilds of Colorado and photographing her magnificent surroundings. Though she often misses the Oregon coast, the majestic and rugged Rockies are a sight she could never part with. Besides, in Colorado there's always a place to hide a body or birth a monster. What more could she ask for?

Congratulations, Shannon!
We usually end up with a brown Christmas. (Referring to the grass and bare trees.)

To a Northern Ontario Gal, that's all kinds of depressing!!! :P

Congratulations Shannon. Christmas is our hottest part of the year, and a white Christmas is an impossible dream.
Mind you, it is also a horror filled period of the year for too many people for a variety of reasons. I wont read Shannon's book at this time - but that leaves a whole lot of the year to enjoy it. Thank you both.

I have to choose a specific time and place to read any horror as well - I'm not built to handle it! :)
2020 has sure had its own horror-filled moments - hoping for an upswing soon!

Congrats to Shannon! We don't always have a white Christmas. When my husband was alive, we spent most of them in Texas and enjoyed a little warmer weather.

Congrats to Shannon! We don't usually have a white Christmas, unless we go skiing. Sometimes it snows here in January, but we are a few hundred yards from the Puget Sound (down the hill, through the neighbor's trees, and across a street) so we don't get snow that sticks.

Texas is definitely warmer weather!! :)

LOL - I can't imagine not having snow - although there are days when that would be fantastic. We have a bit now, but it'll be gone by the weekend

That sounds like a wonderful way to spend Christmas. Oddly, here in Colorado we end up with a white Thanksgiving more often than a white Christmas. The bulk of our snow is in February and March, but goes through April and sometimes May (can be year-round in the mountains, though.) Thank you for helping me spread the word!

Surprisingly, we tend to have a fairly brown Christmas in Colorado, but usually a white Thanksgiving AND Valentine's. And thank you!

I completely understand that. I suffer depression during the holidays and need to deal with it differently. My mom has long had a hard time with Christmas, as well.

Thank you! My husband's from Christmas, but he moved up to Wyoming when he was small. Definitely two VERY different styles of Christmas. Colorado's in between. We usually get snow around Christmas, but rarely ON Christmas.

I don't remember having a white Christmas at all in Oregon, but Maryland we always did. Here in Colorado is about halfsies. And thank you!

You're very welcome! We generally have snow from Nov to April, but yep, it's not unusual in May & Oct &...

I agree - it's awesome!

Congratulations Shannon! What a title: Happy Goulidays.

Congratulations Shannon! WOW, great title, and I'm sure a stocking stuffer for sure!

A white Christmas every year, what a treat! That would make Christmas the best holiday for sure. Someday I'll visit one of those little towns that do it up big every year. They do exist, right? Not just in the Hallmark Christmas stories, or have they lied to me? LOL
