Wormhole Travel

Today is Albert Einstein's birthday and in honour of that Stephen Tremp & several blog buddies have created the National Wormhole Day bloghop!

So, if I had access to a wormhole, where would I go? Past, future, present?

I might to choose to go to the Moon a few hundred years in the future. That way, we'd probably have a colony there, and I'd get to see Earth from space - I'd love that. Or if it's a really smart wormhole, I'd ask it to take me to the second star to the right and straight on till morning - because that's obviously the very technical instruction set to take me to the nearest planet with alien life. I'd love to encounter an alien civilization - finding our differences and commonalities would be incredible!

Where would you go?

Sounds awesome. I'd definitely go in the future because women weren't treated well in the past. I might like to go a few years after my death so I could spend some more time with my daughter and hopefully grandkids.

A moon colony would certainly be interesting. I thought the second star to the right took you to of pirates and pixies and flying boys!

Viewing earth from space would be really cool...

I would love to orbit the earth and see our home from space. But I don't want to encounter aliens. I'm too cowardly for that. Too places right here I'd love to see: Iceland and Death Valley.

Natalie - that's an awesome choice! Might be my favourite so far!

Jeff - teehee! It might and that would be kind of fun too :)

Alex - it would!

Yvonne - those are great choices to see! If I stayed on earth, I'd love to see parts of Africa and Hong Kong as well.

I'd love to see what humans are doing in a few hundred or even few thousand years. :) Makes me kind of mad that I will more than likely miss out!

It would be the most amazing thing to see the earth from space. Cool choice. :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Trisha - me too! I'd love to see what kind of leaps and jumps we're going to make!

LG - thanks! It would be amazing to see our earth from 'out there' somewhere! :)

I fantasized about Moon Base IV in my future jump in the wormhole. It would be fantastic to see Earth from out there. As for other worlds, I'd adjust to aliens if they weren't like the Aliens in that movie of the same name.

It's always fun to imagine what kind of improvements we've made as race centuries from now :)

DG - it really would! Yeah - I definitely don't want to meet up with THAT alien!!

Nutschell - I know! I hope we're heading in the directions of Rodenberry's dream :)

Finding another race would be neat.

Jemi Fraser said...

Diane - it would be awesome! Or maybe we could travel to PERN instead :)

I would go to the future because I have always wanted to travel to outer space. It would be fascinating to see what has become of the earth and what other planents looks like!

Jess - exactly! I'd love to have faster than light travel to see so much of our galaxy!! :)

I'm right with you. I want to see what's out there beyond our little corner of the universe.

Jemi Fraser said...

Susan - exactly!!! It would be amazing to see what else was out there!

Great choice with the moon and alien civilization. Both are fascinating. I'm especially interested in the moon.

Medeia - it would be awesome to see our earth from space! I hope we have moon colonies in our future!

Happy belated birthday to Albert!

I might travel to Uranus and check out the rings around Uranus.

Of course, being a wormhole, I'd see plenty of 'earth'. Oops, wrong kind of wormhole, eh! :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Gary - yup, definitely the wrong kind!! :)

Ooh. If I could go forward I'd travel to exactly 200 years in the future and learned how the issues of the 21st century resolved.

If I could go backward...probably late antiquity, followed by the late colonial era, followed by the 1970s.

Here's one for you: where would you go if you had to STAY?

Those sound like fun choices!

That is a great question. Would aliens share commonalies with us. Or would we be so different we could not understand each other.

Thanks Jemima for participating!

Fun choices. My choice would definitely be the future so that I could see where I'm headed!

I think it would be great to travel to another world. I'd be picky, though--I'd want it to be a life-sustaining one like Earth. :)

Jemi Fraser said...

Ethan - great choices! Experiencing the Renaissance would be awesome! Okay, if I had to stay, I'd either visit the mountains of Rwanda to see the gorillas or Hong Kong to experience that incedible city :)

Sandra - thanks!

Stephen - I'd hope with intelligence, we'd be able to find some kind of communication, but look how much we've messed up wth the whales!

Nas - the future would be intriguing for sure!

Elizabeth - LOL - that's probably a very good idea! :)

Do you think if people lived on the moon, they'd still be able to see Earth? Or would they thing that Earth is their moon?

Jemi Fraser said...

Lynne - good question! Maybe far off in the future, people will have forgotten people have lived on Earth :)

Yours is the first post I've read that talks about leaping into the future. Great idea to take a look at a colony that might be our future.

Jemi Fraser said...

Lee - really? Wow - I would have thought most people would want to see what's going to happen! :)

EvalinaMaria said...

Awesome! May I come with you?

Jemi Fraser said...

Evalina - you most certainly may!! :)

Tricia J. O'Brien said...

Ha! I love your idea. Did you ever read M.T. Anderson's FEED? People go to the Moon for a day trips.
If I had access to a wormhole, I'd want to use it to peek in to assorted times, get real-time views of past and future times--like half hour peeks at pre-eruption Pompeii, the builders of Stonehenge, pre-Revolution Versailles, a speakeasy in the Twenties and then our world in 100 years and again in 1,000 years. That's probably cheating. ;)

Jemi Fraser said...

Tricia - I haven't read that one of his - but he's awesome! :)

I don't care if it's cheating - I love it! I'd like a peek at the Renaissance too!

With the way I love travel, I'd probably choose to go somewhere in the present. How about Australia, and then I could avoid that long plane trip?!

I'd love to see the earth from outer-space too. I'd imagine it would be breathtaking!

Jemi Fraser said...

Beth - good point! I'd love to spend a long while on that part of the world!

Wendy - I think so! And it's a priviledge so few people get! :)
