As a writer, my A to Z challenge is going to be about books, characters, TV shows and movies that have impacted me somehow. Enjoy! Be sure to check out Lee’s blog to find more bloggers taking on this challenge!
Never Cry Wolf(source)
Wow. This book was my first introduction to Farley Mowat’s work. It’s based on his experiences being sent to the Canadian north to find out why the wolves were destroying the herds of caribou. Mowat lived in the remote parts of our country for a year and found out the wolves were doing nothing of the kind. It’s an incredible tale – even better because it’s true. So many great scenes that had me laughing out loud. And it’s another book that will make you think – and quite possibly change your perspective. This is not the only time this incredible author will show up in my challenge posts!
Do you know any of Mowat’s work? Have you seen the movie based on the book?

Now this book sounds interesting. I've not read it, but now I want to.
I adore wolves and have such a respect for these wild wonderful much maligned and misunderstood creatures! So yay for this book and for Farley Mowat!! Take care

This book sounds great - thanks for the recommendation!
Lynda - it's an amazing tale!
Old Kitty - me too. Wolves are gorgeous, intelligent creatures - yet they often have a negative reputation.
Susan - it really is! :)
I haven't read the book but I did see the movie.
Alex - the book is an incredible story! :)
I love finding out about new reads and this cover art and your praise makes me want to dive in. I'm also a sucker for people who write based on their own experiences. They definitely have the ability to bring the emotion!

the books about wolves are often very interesting. My fave is WOLF TOTHEM by Jiang Rong which was a worldwide bestseller and had enormous depth and wisdom. I even translated it for the readers in my country
Mowat is a great writer. My son has started reading his books this year ( I bought him a collection of Mowat's works last year).
Sounds a good book.
Yvonne.
great choice. I can't remember if I've read it or seen a movie.

Another great book recommendation from you, Jemi :-)
Hi Jemi! I've not read the book, but I think I've seen the movie.
Have a wonderful day!

Oh, hey! Someone I haven't heard of, much less read. Awesome! I'll have to check it out.
I so can't wait to read this one, it sounds like it's going to be an amazing read. Than you for sharing! :)
The story is so sad. Since I AM a "Wolfe" I love wolves and hate seeing them killed.
I've never read it. Adding it to my ever GROWING list!
great book and one of the best movies I've ever seen!!!

Karen - it really is!
Amy - it is. Definitely a strong book.

Mimi - yay! I loved the book!!
Julie - I think you'd like it. It's an honest and intriguing story. :)
love wolves---i think i have heard of the movie--not the book
Lynn - you'd probably like the book then. It's really interesting and intriguing. :)
I haven't seen this book before, but I'd love to read it. I bookmarked the Amazon movie page for when I want to watch it later.
Medeia - it's such a great book - hope you enjoy!! :)
I'm not familiar with this author's work. It sounds like an interesting book.
Susan - his writing is amazing. Honest, wry, heartfelt and with voice to spare. Awesome :)
I read this book as a kid while vacationing in Canada (perfect, right?) and since then I've read it multiple times. So much so that I can recite lines of it at random (like when they misspelled his name Varley Monfat on a telegram, or the catfish in the toilet incident, or the Creamed Mouse Recipe)...
Okay, you get the message. I LURVE this book.
Lydia - definitely perfect! The mice recipes were priceless! And I love when he hides under the canoe near the beginning! :)
I thought the movie was terrific. I'll have to read the book, it's such an engaging story.
There's something almost romantic about wolves. Fascinating creatures. I'm adding this book to my TBR list. Thanks, Jemi.
Leslie - it really is well done! I loved, loved the book!
Patricia - wolves really are. They're so maligned in a lot of literature, but they're fascinating animals :)
I am impressed. I don't think Ive met anyone who knows as much about this subject as you do. You are truly well informed and very intelligent. You wrote something that people could understand and made the subject intriguing for everyone. Really, great blog you have got here. Viking refrigerator repair Calabasas
